questions while using MuseScore3

• Sep 15, 2024 - 21:43

Im new to MuseScore and hae been arranging a iano piece for 3 hammered dulcimers. Can anyone tell me
how to condense 4 measures of rests into a measure with a 4 above it? This might be called a numbered rest or a combined rest or a 4-measure rest or a measured rest.
Any one know how to change the instrument name?
Or add a fermata and accents?

Thanks so much!

how to condense 4 measures of rests into a measure with a 4 above it? In Musescore 3 use keyboard shortcut M to toggle display of multi-measure rests on and off. (In the most recent version 4.4.1 the shortcut has changed to CTRL+SHIFT+M)

add a fermata and accents? Fermata are found in the Articulations palette (in version 4 it is found in the breaths and pauses palette) Accents are also found in the Articulations palette but can also be added with keyboard short cut SHIFT+V

Changing the instrument name I can't remember. It is quite a while since I used version 3 and how instruments are added and their properties changed is quite different in version 4. But take a look here here https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/instruments-staff-setup-and-templat…
