Feedback Needed! (Original Composition)

• Oct 12, 2024 - 14:11

Hi everyone. I've been composing for a while now, but I've never really sought much feedback. I'm a Year 10 student and music exams are coming up later this term, so I thought I'd try and get as much feedback as possible. I'd appreciate any feedback you could give me on this piece. It's an unfinished piece called Highlands and is supposed to evoke the feeling of emerging from a beach and running faster and faster up a mountain.

I like it. The piano instrument was a bit quiet for me - I'm using MS Basic, not the Hub sounds, so that might be the reason. i imagine drone footage over Highland Perthshire and maybe a train steaming across a famous viaduct at one point. i haven't run up a mountain for over 30 years, mind you.

Dear Kiet,
What a wonderful piece! It must have taken you forever to write! One thing:
When you have a multitude of whole bar rests, you could just write one bar's
rest with a fermata and type "Rest as long as you like!" or "Rest for 30 seconds
or 60 seconds" or "Rest until the audience becomes restless."
I think that the piece is long enough as it is. It is a significant length.
Well done! Jeff
