koor - divisie van stemmen

• Oct 21, 2024 - 11:11

groeten,
Tom

For this English-language forum a translation from https://www.deepl.com/en/translator:

Choir - division of voices
Is there a smooth way to place and handle different voices on one stave for a choir?
an example:
- starting point: i have 2 staves for soprano, with different melody and text
- i want to merge those 2 soprano voices on one stave (division)
- to do this I give one voice voice 1 and the other voice 2
- if I then start adding on one staff, the text of one of the voices disappears
does anyone know a smooth way?
regards,
Tom

It's a bit more complicated if you already have existing notes and lyrics on each stave.

Example:
Stage 1 : the original

Stage 2 : move lyrics for upper stave above the stave
Select > More > Same stave > Properties > Show more > Position > Above
or
Select > More > Same stave > (shortcut X)

Stage 3 : swap notes on lower stave to Voice 2
Select the entire lower stave, then:
Tools > Voices > Exchange Voice 1-2

Stage 4 : implode the lower stave into the upper stave
Select the entire content of the upper and lower staves, then:
Tools > Implode

Stage 5 : rename the upper stave, empty (or remove) the unwanted lower stave

Stage 6 : correct any wrong layout for Voices 1 and 2 in the combined stave
You need to use the Selection Filter to include only Voice 1 and Voice 2.
You must exclude the lyrics, otherwise all the lyrics will end up below the stave!
First: Selection Filter: None, then enable Voice 1 and Voice 2
Then: Ctrl+A (Select all)
Reset layout: Ctrl+R - or Format > Reset shapes and positions
Finally: Selection Filter > All - (reset to default)
