How to set NoteHeads=NoteNames on a range of notes?

• Oct 25, 2024 - 00:51

I'm writing sheet music for a beginner who needs Note Heads to have Note Names (aka EZ-Play).

I am able to do this for a single note, using Properties panel, with Notehead set to "Note names".

However, when I shift-drag to select a bunch of notes, the Properties panel removes this option. I suspect this is because the selection grows to include both notes and non-notes.

How do I set Noteheads for a bunch of notes? Or more directly, how do I select a range of notes and only notes (not rests or other objects)?

I know that only from Musescre 3.

There you can first select the entire staff, then you can specify "Notes" and then change the " Head scheme" of the notes.
However, there is a small error: if you set the first note of a selection to 'Pitch names' and then select further notes (including those already set), it will no longer work. You have to select without the already set note or select any other scheme in between.

OK your solution helped me figure it out! Here's what works in the latest version:

Select all, or shift-drag to select a range of objects. Then, with selection still active, right-click a note, and do "Select... Similar in this Range". Then it will modify the selection to just be all the notes. Then I was able to change all their note heads.

Thanks!
