Time signature change in the middle of the score

Hi!

This is quite annoying problem and hopefully some of you have found a way how to overcome it: If I find it necessary to change time signature in only one (or more) measure somewhere in the middle of the score, from 3/4 to 2/4 for example, how can I avoid already written music to move forward 1/4 in the following measures? There must be some easy way, but I just can't figure it out :( Somehow I've managed to find some solution before, but it has always been somewhat complicated and I'm quite sure that there is more elegant way to solve this problem.

In the middle of writing this question I hopefully kind of figured in out already: Put an old time signature marking (in this case 3/4) to the following measure of the measure that is to be changed BEFORE you change time signature in specific measure(s) in the middle of the score.

I'm still curious if there is even an easier way to do this, and if not so, could someone with better english skills explain the same thing in a bit easier and understandable way... :) Hopefully this helps someone who's getting frustrated with the same issue.
