Double Stem with same duration

• Oct 31, 2024 - 15:01

I would like to write percussion for 2 lines. The second line needs a note head with 2 stems (up & down) but with the same duration. Please see the attached.

I know that we can do similar to this by "voice". But as far as I know in this method there should be 2 different durations such as quarter and eight note. In my case the durations are the same.

Is there a way to this is in Musescore?

Thanks

You can have the same duration in both voices, and Musescore combines the noteheads by default. In fact you need to make manual adjustments to the chord offset to get Musecore not to share the noteheads in these cases.

Try it and see!

It works for percussion if you do it this way.

  1. Enter the notes in one voice 1.
  2. Exit note entry mode
  3. CTRL+Click to select the notes you want to be in voice 2
  4. Click the voice 2 button in the toolbar
  5. Add voice 1 notes again to those you just moved to voice 2.

It is a bit of an odd workflow and there may be an easier way but I haven't found it yet
