vertical scrolling

• Nov 4, 2024 - 11:48

I use Musescore to play tunes on my clarinet while being accompanied by drums, piano etc
Of course I only keep the clarinet scores on the screen.
I like to see a full page of the score to be able to check what is coming one or 2 lines below (so the horizontal scrolling does not suit me).
Problem is that the vertical scrolling in Musescore is not fluid : once the last measure is read Musescore abruptly moves to the first measure of the next page. This results in a major difficulty to play the first measure of the next page as you discover it too late ...
Would it be possible to have a really fluid vertical scrolling moving the page on the screen one line after each line is read ?

Would certainly help me a lot

Thx

This seems to me to be a valid and sensible feature request.

At present, Continuous view (horizontal) maintains the playback cursor in the centre of the screen, so that there is usually a viable number of measures visible to the right for "look-ahead".

But currently Continuous view (vertical) allows the playback cursor to advance down the screen, so that the number of systems available for "look-ahead" gradually decreases to zero. That seems inconsistent and unhelpful design. At least there should be an option to keep the playback cursor vertically in the middle of the screen?

Agree!!!

I sometimes add an elsewhere-invisible, non-playing staff showing cue-sized notes of the next three measures over the last three measures of a page, but sometimes that doesn't work right and it's always a PITA to do!!!

Keeping the system playing (roughly!) centered vertically on the screen would be very nice for playback. I would definitely make it the default mode for displaying playback.
