Palettes, Instruments & Properties bars
Somehow, the Properties bar, normally at the top left, has disappeared.
In addition, the Palettes and Instrument tabs, also at the top left, which
used to stay closed until clicked, now stay open.
How do I get them back to normal?

Seems the Instruments tab is undocked and the Properties panel closed.
Easiest method to fix is using the View menu and click Instruments (this will hide the Instruments dialog), next click the Instruments again to make it appear and it should default dock as a tab next to the paletters.
In the View menu you can also click the Properties option to show the Properties tab again.
