beaming in odd meter
I am trying to create a 5/8 measure of eighth notes with the beaming in a 2+3 grouping. The beam properties are not allowing me to do so. Any ideas?

5/8 is not an odd meter and the beam properties are not stopping you from doing what you want, it's just that their default setting is not what you want. The Handbook explains about time signatures:
