Flams and drags in percussion

• Dec 3, 2014 - 10:28

I am trying to notate some percussion stuff on a variety of instruments and the flam and the drag are needed a lot.

As I don't care about playback audio, only about generating the parts for musicians to play, I really don't mind if what I see on the screen doesn't actually play, but I do need to be able to enter the stuff in the first place!

I can use a regular Acciaccatura or Appoggiatura to look like a flam, but is there a way to create something that looks like a drag?

I basically need to be able to have something that looks like either two or three mini semiquavers in front of the 'main' note.

It may be the functionality is there and that I don't know how to access it or perhaps it isn't there at all and this should be a feature request.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for responding - and so quickly! I got it to work, but not quite as you said. What I found I had to do was:

1. Insert 'main' note.
2. Click on Grace Note palette
3. Drag Grace Note to main note
4. Click/Escape out of editing mode
5. Click on semi-quaver duration - grace note changes from 'quaver' style to semi-quaver style.
6. Drag Grace Note to main note again
7. Click on semi-quaver duration - grace note changes from 'quaver' style to semi-quaver style.

Thanks again - nicely done feature!
