No Playback on MIDI Keyboard while Input works

• Mar 5, 2010 - 16:07

I'm trying to get MuseScore to play MIDI-Files on my Casio CTK-810 but with no success so far. The MIDI Input from the same device works without Problems though.

Here's a screenshot of my Jack connections that might be interesting:

When I connect a Rosegarden Source to the Destination 20:Keyboard it works just fine.

MuseScore Version is 0.9.6-2148, Ubuntu Linux 9.04.
I also tried Ubuntu Studio 9.10 on a different partition and have the same problem there.

Hope to get some help, cause I'm clueless at the moment.

You might try Jack MIDI directly and not alsa midi. Go to MuseScore, Preferences->IO and check jack MIDI
In jackcontrol, go to the Jack MIDI tab, and do the connection.

Thanks for your effort, but I don't have the option to select something like "Jack Midi" in the Musescore Preferences. Only Midi and internal Synthesizer. I've seen that Option in a VirtualBox-Environment with Windows XP Version and Musescore (unfortunately Jack crashes in that virtual machine so it's not working either). But the Linux Versions I tried dont't have that.

The "Jack-Midi"-tab in Jackcontrol is totally empty, I didn't figure out yet how to enable something there.

First of all I want to add that for example
pmidi -p20 xyz.mid
plays a midi-file on my external Casio-keyboard just as desired. The problems seem to be restricted to my use of MuseScore. Even Muse as a sequenzer is able to play Midi on my Keyboard (don't know if the technology may have similarities).

As suggested, I tried to configure jack so I can use the "jack-midi"-tab within jack-connections.

1.
In "raw"-mode I got a lot of source-devices all with names like "in-hw-0-2-0-EmuK10k1-Synth-MIDI". There's no entry for MuseScore.
I tried to connect every single entry on source-side to the only non "Emu10K1" oder "Audigy" device on the destination side. It's called "out-hw-1-0-0-Keyboard-MIDI-1" and can be supposed to be my keyboard (which is not connecting via the Audigy, but directly via USB).

2.
In "seq"-mode I tried to connect MuseScore/midi_capture_3 to Keyboard/midi_playback_1 -- with no sound nor starting the cursor in Musescore to play along the notes.
MIDI-Input from the external keyboard works again very well with this config.

Do I still miss something?
