No playback - Ubuntu

Ever since the Karmic Upgrade I have lost playback.

I now NEED to use MuseScore :) ....so started to try to fix the problem with no success.

The mixer does not show any instruments if that helps you to help me ?
Ubuntu itself can happily play midi files..

Now upgraded to 0.9.6 and still no playback....
