Tied notes don't display in guitar tab?

• Apr 8, 2015 - 05:57

Whenever I put ties between notes in guitar TAB, the tied note doesn't display - only the original attacked note. So instead of it being "Note" - "Tie" - "Note", it simple shows "Note" - "Tie" - "Nothing" Is there a way to properly display the tied notes as the fret numbers instead of having a fret number with a tie into nowhere?

Technical Info:
Windows 7
Musescore 2

Fret mark for tied notes will be displayed if you use a tab style which display stems. So press i and change the staff style to 6 strings Tab Common or 6 stringsTab Full. Or right click the staff, staff properties -> advanced staff properties -> Note values and change the "Shown as" properties to "Stem and beams".
There is no way to not have the beam/stem but to have repeated fret marks for tied notes.

Thanks for your help! Very disappointed about not being able to show those notes without stems though... I might have to use a different software for this project if that is the case. Is there a way I can hide the ties themselves on tablature, but not on the standard notation staff? Like in the 3rd note of bar 1 in this example?

If you still wish to use the simple TAB as opposed to common or full...

Yes, you can set the tie(s) to invisible by selecting and unticking the 'Visible' checkbox in the Inspector. (The keyboard shortcut is the letter V.)
See attachment. (I realize your image shows 7 string guitar - but that's not strictly relevant here.)

Regards.
