What is the best way to do this????
I have a simple issue, revolving around 1st and 2nd endings (Voltas). Hopefully I can make my point without the need for a sample.
In the measure before the 1st ending, there is a half note (assume 2/4 time) tied to an eighth note in the 1st ending. The remaining beats in the 1st ending are inconsequential - could be pickup notes or rests. The 2nd ending begins with the same eighth note as the 1st ending, and then leads on the the rest of the piece.
My question is how to show the tie from the measure before the first ending to the 2nd ending. Here is what I have been doing it.....
1. For the first ending, write the preceding measure half note, and then use the tie icon to create the eighth note, complete with the tie. Then I add what I need in the rest of the 1st ending.
2. For the second ending, I create the eighth note that is to be tied from the previous measure, and then finish off hte second ending.
3. Now, to indicate the tie to the second ending, I highlight the half note in the measure before the first ending and then, using the ctrl key (I'm using the Windows version), highlight the eighth note. I then press the "S" key to get a (Slur) tie. (This leads to having two ties shown - one to the 1st ending, and one to the second ending.
4. I highlight the "new" tie, so that the handles appear for sizing/shaping. I take the left most handle, and slide it back to the right so that it is about equal to the bar line at the beginning of the 2nd ending.
The problem that I have is that this tie does not stay where I put it, especially if MuseScore is in a resizing mode where it keeps trying to adjust the measures to fit the page. The tie line keeps moving back to the left, into an area where it shouldn't be.
Is there a better way to indicate that the 1st note in the 2nd ending is to be played as a tie from the measure prior to the 1st ending?
Thanks in advance, and eager to hear how others handle this situation.

You can use a grace note, then set it invisible.
See attachment where you can view the invisible grace note via menu item: View / Show Invisible.
(You can also delete the line break at the second volta to see how resizing works.)
