crash when saving on mac

• Jun 25, 2010 - 23:24

I downloaded musescore yesterday and spent some time getting familiar with it. I am happy with the program overall. I am using version 0.9.6 on Mac OS 10.5.8

However, I've started to have a problem. Every time I try to create a new file from scratch, the program will crash either right after the file appears, when I try to enter the first note, or when I try to save. My first few files (small ones) didn't crash and saved OK. My first larger project (I created staves for a standard big band) crashed the program. Now the program crashes when I try to create or save any files.

I looked around the website and it says the problem I am having has been fixed with this release, so I've concluded that I'm doing something wrong. How do I work around this?

I have an intel mac. It is a slightly-more-than 2-year-old MacBook pro.

I installed the program as explained in the link. So far, that is the only way I know of to install programs on a mac. I also tried uninstalling the program and re-downloading it.

I had a similar problem - which i solved by opening the demo file which comes with the standard install, editing it (by removing almost everything) and then saving it under a different name. I would suggest that you do not edit the general style during this edit process.

I then used this nearly blank file as the basis for my own work - adding staves etc. as required and haven't seen any recurrence of the original save problems.

Indeed I am now able to create scores from scratch using the new score dialogue and save them.

Good luck

Ian
