dynamic markings
Do notated dynamic markings cause the parts to playback using the marks? In other words, a "piano" notation would play back softer than a 'forte" marking? I cannot ascertain that this is what happens.

If you use a recent version of MuseScore and 0.9.6.3 is advised. Yes, MuseScore will play a fff louder than a ppp.
