Confusing Tuplets

• Oct 3, 2010 - 21:52

Tuplet notation is getting its direction (up, down, or horizontal) based on the note stem, rather than the note head. This is confusing to the eyes as notes cross from A to B on the treble clef, for example. The notes may be rising, while the tuplet line is declining. This is messing me up while playing, because my eyes are seeing a downward slope (from the tuplet), when I am supposed to be playing rising notes. I have attached a screenshot of the issue.

I recommend that tuplets should get their direction (up, down, or horizontal) based on the note head, rather than the note stem.
