Changing note durations

• Nov 28, 2010 - 17:00

Hi,

If I enter a note, how do I change its duration? I read on the forums that you're supposed to choose your duration first and then enter the note. However, since I plan to use MuseScore to enter a lot of similar data (chords), I expect to do a lot of cut'n'paste. So what I decided to do is to create a chord sheet which creates chords using whole notes, then copy and paste the notes, change the durations and then play it.

What I want to end up with is the equivalent of a "playable" slash notation (such as what is discussed here: http://musescore.org/en/node/1009 with the chord slashes example).

Am I going about this the right way or am I making things more complicated than I should?

Thanks,

L

It will not work this way. You need to choose the duration before entering a note or you can change the duration after but if you shorten it, MuseScore will add rests after the note (shorten whole to half will result in a half and half rest) and if you lenghten it MuseScore will erase the next notes.
So if you want to keep on with your copy paste. I suggest to copy a chord, then put the right duration, copy another one etc... Or make the chord sheet with several duration.
