Odd action with Plugin: ABC Import , version 0.9.6.3

• Dec 5, 2010 - 18:15

I am importing from an ABC format file.
When Musescore brings it up and displays it, most of the beams are correct, but I have a number that are acting pretty strange. When I try to edit the beam by deleting note, changing duration etc. it has no real effect.
In specific: in the score I am importing, "Mrs. Power ( Carolan's Concerto ), in the third line of staves, I have a eight note that begins a beam that connects to an eight note, five notes later, bypassing four quarter notes. The actual beam lies below the fourth line of staves and looks pretty bad. Any suggestions besides deleting the offending sequence and laying the notes by hand?
I have attached a snippet image of the offending section.
I can add the original source ABC file if someone should like to see it.
Thanks - New to the application and am honestly amazed at what it can do! Wonderful piece of software.

Can you try to convert the ABC file by using http://abc2xml.appspot.com/ directly and attach the resulting MusicXML file?
For your next request please use the general discussion or bug forums, this one is dedicated to chat about translating MuseScore in other languages.

I went to the url and converted the ABC file into XML. That part worked just fine.
However when I launch Musescore, and then open the MusicXML file, I get the same types of beam errors. The notes are just fine, just the beaming is bad.

As I look through the .xml file, I see the ,,, lines - can I "safely" delete these lines and see what happens?

PS: Sorry about the incorrect placement of my original query - In my mind, moving from ABC to mscz amounted to a translation. my bad. thanks for the move and the explanation.

Attached will be the original ABC file, and the new XML file, as well as the manually corrected file.
I took a chance and manually edited the ... lines and basically forced the end of beams to appear correctly - it looks much better and the app plays it well.
As an aside, the application "BarFly" renders the ABC file correctly and without the beam end confusion.
Thanks again for helping out.
