accents below / above

I have some piano music, which has two voices on one line (see attached jpg) The upper notes have accents. When I enter the bottom notes the upper notes flip, which they should, but the accents also flip. They now appear below the notes they belong to and collide with the voice beneath. I want to flip ònly the accents up, not the notes. How do i accomplish this?
