Help - Treble clef getting key signatures of the bass clef resulting in non-existent keys!

• Jan 2, 2011 - 17:43

I'm working on a piece for "organ" (actually piano with 3 staves) and in the first staff, I have to switch to bass F clef for one beat, then back to treble G Clef. The problem is, the key signature (C sharp minor) appears on the lines corresponding to the F clef rather than the G Clef after that, even though the G clef is the one there. It's playing back the notes as if the notes with the sharps on them are sharp, but they are still in the treble register.

In other words, there are sharps on D, A, E, B instead of F, C, G, D, as if you just copied the bass clef key signature onto the treble clef, but the clef is correct and the playback is in the right register...only with A, E and B sharps ruining the party....HELP!

To anyone who bothered reading, I apologize. It seems I inadvertently used the "French violin clef" and that was the source of the error. Hopefully this helps someone someday!
