Option missing: edit -> preferences -> I/O (tab) -> Choose PortMidi input device
The handbook says in http://musescore.org/en/handbook/note-entry, there would be an option to choose your midi input device in the preferences dialog. I can't find it though. This gone lost, or isn't this option present anymore, so should I leave it in the handbook , or remove it? Maybe it has gone somewhere else where I can't find it.

I see "choose portmidi input interface" in both 0.9.6.3 and R. 3784... so I dunno where yours is...
@fnbecker : You need to build MuseScore with Portaudio/PortMidi installed to have this option displayed. On a couple of linux distrbutions, the maintainers choose to disable this dependency and so the preferences dialog is dynamicall changed.

Is this a common thing? should I mention it in the handbook, or rather not? Maybe like "Please note, that in some linux installations this option was disabled on build time, so it doesn't show up in the preferences dialog"

It's not that common. I would not change the handbook for this since it could mislead users.
