Help: how to input drum notes?

• Jan 12, 2011 - 19:45

Hi,

I am new to musescore and new to this forum - let alone new to drum notes. Detecting musescore on my Linux-Uubuntu 10.04.1 repositories, I thought I might give it a try. This version is 'Musescore Unstable Prerelease for Version 0.9.6, Revision: 2613'

Why do I ask for help?

I find it impossible to add drum notes, using the online Handbook, under "Drum notation". Is there something like a "Musescore: How to input drum notes For Dummies" ;-) for the absolute-drum-notes-beginner?

Here are some details:

I have created 3 combined staves, 2 piano, 1 military drum. It is very easy for me to add notes to the piano staves, but i cannot add drum notes to the military drum stave. This has only a single line with whole-note-rests per measure. These rests won't be changed into drum notes, whatever I try from the Handbook.

Can anybody help me?

Thank you,

musecub

1) Following the tutorial, I created my first drumset! And I hear drums.

2) Having added "http://ppa.launchpad.net/mscore-ubuntu/mscore-stable/ubuntu lucid main" to my Ubuntu repositories, I have now Musescore Version 0.9.6.2 Revision 3400. Looks better than the beta version. (During installation there are some warnings, though, about missing media types and some zz font (?) missing. Probably don't hear high hats)
