Where is score saved

I have the score in a folder like C:\a\b\mus in which I double click the
score and it loads in MuseScore. I work on it a little and save.
But it sometimes unpredictably it saves in Documents\MuseScore\???.
It should know where it came from and always save there.
What's wrong?

Are you sure it doesn't still save under C:\a\b\mus when you hit File>Save ?
Could it be that the one you're seeing in Document\MuseScore is actually the backup file from the auto-save? If so, the filename will be very similar there, but it starts with a dot(.) and ends with a comma(,).
So if you're working on C:\a\b\mus\myScore.mscz that should still be where your score is saved, but you might also see a backup/autosave version Documents\MuseScore2\Scores\.myScore.mscz,

Is it possible that your scores are from MuseScore 1.3. If it's the case, then when you press save, it does a save as and so ask you to save in another directory. By default Documents/MuseScore2/Scores
