Version 1.o not responding

I received your latest Newsletter and downloaded MuseScore 1.0. However, it will not come up. I get your Logo screen, then it minimizes to the lower toolbar. When I click on the toolbar I get a pop-up message
that reads, MuseScore: Promenade_Example.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it 3 times (clearing the Registry each time) but It continues to refuse to respond. Version 0.9.5 worked well. What is wrong with 1.0 ? I am running Windows-Xp Service Pack 3 on a Dell (mini)

the demo runs fine.
I receive "not responding" when I click the Load Score from File button the first time then after the program just quits.
I'm running win7 x32. 4 gig memory. Acer Aspire. AMD. windows reports it's up to date.
