Bass Guitar Solo No. 1

• Mar 11, 2011 - 02:57

This is probably the first good thing I've made, or even attempted to, so bear with me. Any criticism will be considered in any future scores I may make.

NOTE: The version attached doesn't have a title, that is because the version with a title had my name, which I'd rather not release.

Um, a good practice with any compositions for any instrument(s) is to 1) specify the tempo you feel best, 2) specify the initial dynamic (p, mp, mf, f).

I would classify this piece as more an 'etude'. A 'study'. Sure, it's a SOLO instrument, but there's not much more than many fast 3rds. Which is fine. (Just splitting hairs)

Reminds me a bit of the bassist from Vulfpeck, that group's "Dean Town":

The role of the electric bass in that piece is soloist and also the whole group playing a lot of unison with the bass part. You probably already know "Dean Town" is a homage to Jaco Pastorius' "Teen Town" with band Weather Report: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRq5zbDOSeI
