In order to get MuseScore to play a tremolo you would have to enter in what you want to see in voice 1, and enter in what you want to hear in voice 2. Then you would need to set the velocity of voice 1 to zero, and make voice two invisible.
To change voices see this in the handbook: http://musescore.org/en/handbook/voices
To change the velocity of a note, right click the note, select note properties; a window will pop up; on that window, change velocity type from auto to user, and then set "velocity (0-127)" to zero. You will not be able to hear those notes.
To make a note invisible, right click the note and go to the option set invisible. It will become invisible.
To save time and effort, you can select multiple notes at once by holding ctrl (command on Mac) as you click each of the notes.
