Audio playback consistently stutters
This has been an issue that's happened on several different scores but I can't exactly pin down what is producing the problem. On this score I'm revising right now, I've noticed whenever I have all (5) instruments playing something, and there's "a lot" going on in a bar, the playback slows down and glitches.
In the attached score, play from m.33, audio will start glitching in about the 2nd beat of m.34, it stops glitching when the other instruments drop out so I'm led to believe it is an issue with whatever is rendering playback.
What is confusing is that there is not a crazy amount of stuff happening in these bars that are glitching.
Other things I've looked at have been:
CPU usage - fairly low and the problem stills occurs with Musescore as the only thing running
Synthesizer peaking - Problem spots are nowhere near clipping

What happens if you select measures 33 - 35 and toggle 'Loop Playback'? Does playback continue glitching at each iteration?

Strangely enough, after a reboot the issue didn't occur. Although it seems to be completely random when it does occur because this same issue, in the same measures has happened in the past.

Perhaps. But what happened to this person is not at all rare, and exactly why I shut my computer off if I'm not going to use it for a while.

Me too.
Because different software use drivers in different ways, and some can really dominate the sound system or other things.
Rarely, one (sometimes two) restart may be required even during the day.

Eric, consider trying the DS driver in I/O in Preferences.
My system has 8gb ram, and still had a time when sound faltered a bit. A reset of MuseScore fixed it. A reset isn't really a problem for me since I don't have any customisations.

I've been using DS since Musescore 3 came out. I'm going to see if a reset changes anything. After booting up the score the next day the same spot is still having stutters.

Eric, then try one of the other drivers. MME, for example.

Just a question. When you experence this glitches, are you connected to a network (Internet/LAN/wifi, etc.)? Strangely enough, I too experienced brief glitches, but only in these situations, and even when playing a generated audio file (wav / mp3), outside MuseScore.

I suppose that could be a cause seeing that I use Wifi rather than a ethernet cable yet I don't see how this would cause a playback problem. It would be inconvenient to disconnect from the internet every time I want to edit scores.
