MuseScore in Finnish
Hi, I'm a new visitor here
MuseScore is a great program. That's why I've now translated MuseScore 0.9.4 in to Finnish.
Here are my files to test. I do't know what to do next. Can any one help me.

That's quite impressive work!
Werner already included your ts file in the repository, so next prerelease, Finnish will be in.
Regarding the handbook: somehow, we will need to load in the handbook text into the musescore.org website. First I will setup the Finnish interface, after that, we can figure out how to perform the transfer.
Will come back to you asap.

MuseScore has some buttons what I can not translate in Finnish:
Edit -> Meta Data... OK - Cancel (have to be: OK - Peruuta)
Edit -> Preferences... OK - Cancel - Apply (OK - Peruuta - Käytä)
Notes -> Transpose... Yes - Cancel (Kyllä - Peruuta) when nothing selected.
Notes -> Transpose... OK - Cancel (OK - Peruuta) when selected.
what is the file where this buttons are with?

I updated the translation.
Regarding the untranslatable Ok - Cancel. These are strings which will be translated by the QT interface, meaning: don't worry, you don't have to translate them because it is handled by the software.

First some stand alone text strings need to be translated:
Can you provide the translation in a comment for each one of these strings?
The first page to start translating is the musescore teaser page.
You can translate this page following these instructions. After this page, you can translate the 5 menu pages in the right sidebar (download, features, screenshots, development, links) in the exact same way.
In the meantime, I will prepare the Finnish handbook.
Don't hesitate to leave a comment if you have problems with anything.

Hi Heino,
The translation workflow is indeed not very clear right from the start, but once you got it, it's very easy.
Here are the step by step instructions for translating the download page. It's exactly the same for the other pages in the right sidebar menu.
You can do the same for the features, screenshots, development and the links page. The handbook page is for when this is done.

Unfortunately, I don't see any automatic way to import your handbook translation. The online handbook system is completely multilingual which makes it easy to translate each book page at the time.
So, I think I have bad news: we will need to copy paste the text into the book translation form. The way to translate the handbook is exactly the same way as translating a menu page. Therefore, I would propose you first translate the menu pages in the right sidebar, following the instructions in a previous comment.
I'm sorry for the bad news. The translation has to be managed in a centralized way, otherwise it becomes real hard to maintain it.

Now, that I actually get the question presented, I don't see much possibilities. MuseScore.org uses Drupal as content management system which comes with a content translation workflow. With the handbook translated in 6 languages already, it has clearly showed that it works. But it needs to be done online. Main reason is the use of special markup (inline, freelinks, ...) as well as book outlines and finally the synchronization between the English source handbook and the translated books.
So again a rather negative answer. Sorry for that.

This is a step in the good direction and will for sure make import easier but it will remain manual work. Just try out the online musescore.org translation system for the handbook and you will see for yourself that manual intervention is just necessary. As example I started the translation for the handbook page: http://www.musescore.org/fi/k%C3%A4sikirja/perustiedot You will see that there are freelinking markup in the English text which needs to be ported to the Finnish translation. The freelinking filter, i.e. the double squared brackets [ ], will work once you created the handbook page for what is in between the freelinking brackets. If this is not clear yet, please let me know.
I noticed in the meantime you translated the download page with success. I just added the Lataa page to the right side menu. Feel free to continue with the next pages.

Hi Heino,
I saw this morning that you translated the installation page to asennus.
All went well except for the Finnish screen shots. For the moment I have no complete solution ready to include language dependent screen shots but I'm about to test a solution real soon. So for the moment, you can keep on translating while using the English screen shots. We can change that later when the solution is in place.

Heino, there is a temporary solution for now. You can attach your language dependent images to the handbook pages but they can not be included yet with the inline filter [ inline : ... ] Anyhow, I thought it would be handy already that you can attach them. We can put them inline later. I guess I can help out with that since it's easy to see whether there is a Finnish image if you use the naming convention as followed: name-of-english-screenshot-fi.extension
