1 - Select one of translated language, i.e. french
2 - Restart MuseScore
3 - Expected behavior : All strings translated in the .ts file are displayed in the translated language
4 - Actual behavior : most of the items in the drop down menus of the menu bar are in english, also same things for the buttons of note entry toolbar.

This was not present in release 0.9.5 and prerelease r2269
Tested with nightly r2334 and r2344
mscore_fr.ts and .qm files r2347 was used to verify and tests

I have found an answer about the Notes Bar Button in the German translation
My Greek translation have the same problem but the German dosent!

So i opened the greek translation with a notpad and i saw this:
go to:MenuNotes
and then you will see by source: &(amp;) Notes..........
and by the translation you will see &(amp;) (your translation).........

The German translation is working properly and the code have this lines:

MenuNotes.....
Source:Notes (without &(amp;))
translation:&(amp;)(your translation).......

It works by me!

jiannis, It is recommended that you test your translations with a recent nightly build or prerelease instead of the 0.9.5 release which is several months old now. The idea is you are working towards a translation that is ready for the next release.

In the course of development words are added or changed slightly. The Notes menu is an example of this. Version 0.9.5 does not have the &(amp;). The nightly builds do have an &(amp;). If you change the text in the source tags then it may work for 0.9.5 but will not work in the nightly builds or the next stable release of MuseScore.

FYI: The & indicates which letter is underlined when you press Alt. It is an accessibility feature for people who cannot (or prefer not to) use the mouse to access a menu.

Same problem reported by Perotinus with Polish translation. Source.

I tried the current spannish translation.
With the current trunk.
cd win32build
make lrelease
cd ..
make install

Launch MuseScore, The palette looks ok. See attached file.
I don't know which strings to look at for the polish translation.
Is lrelease called in the nightlies build process?

EDIT: The following comments refer to the Spanish (es) translation:

The problem is the tooltips for some of the palette items. For example, in the "Articulaciones & Ornamentos" palette the "ufermata" is translated as "fermata superior" but the translation does not appear in the tooltip. "ustaccatissimo" should appear as "staccatissimo ascendente", etc.

The nightly build process calls mingw32-make -f makefile.mingw win32 which in turn calls lupdate and lrelease for each build.

First of all, sorry if I say something stupid, I'm only "amateur":

As I see, you are building musescore on Windows. I do on Ubuntu 9.10, and maybe the problem is in the linux dependent sections of the Makefile or one of the CMakelists.txt...

It's beeing a slippery bug!

alkayata,

I didn't realize you were building yourself. Are you following the instructions on the development page?

Could you describe which of the translated strings are not appearing in Spanish for you? (Feel free to attach a screenshot)

Hi again!

I do "make release" when I update the sources with svn. I think that includes executing lupdate and lrelease.

When I want to try new translations, to see if it make sense what I've written, then I do lrelease mscore_es.ts and later I copy the qm file to the right directory wich now I can't remember.

In any case, the only place I've noticed where translations are not showing is in the palette. And that is what It shows me:

  • Notas de Gracia
  • Percusión
  • Claves
  • Key Signatures
  • Time Signatures
  • Barras de Compás
  • Líneas
  • Arpeggio &Glissando
  • Breath & Pauses
  • Llaves
  • Articulations & Ornaments
  • Alteraciones
  • Dinámicas
  • Digitación
  • Note Heads
  • Tremolo
  • Repeticiones
  • Breaks & Spacer
  • Propiedades de Agrupación
  • Símbolos
  • Things inside the menus are also not translated.

    Thanks a lot David!

When I reset to factory settings palette buttons show as I've translated it. However, items inside "Alterations" and "Articulations & Ornaments" show still untranslated although they are.

Besides, maybe it's not the place to post it, because that is a bug, but if I close every open document, the program dies unexpectedly.

    Ciao!
