ubuntu problems
Hello -
I've just installed Musescore on Ubuntu 10.04, having used it in the past on Windows Vista. Every time I've tried to start a score, as soon as I get to the point of putting in the pitch of a note, the programme closes. Is there something really obvious that I'm doing wrong?

Which version of MuseScore are you using?
Try to upgrade to the last version from the Stable PPA

I'm using 0.9.7, and it does tell me it's and unstable prelease.

I followed your link, and followed all the PPA instructions, but still seem to have the 0.9.7 unstable prelease. I tried removing that one, and re-installing it, but it comes up with the same version, and it still closes down as soon as I press a letter key to enter a note. I should point out that I'm relatively new to Ubuntu, so could well be doing/missing something really obvious

Depending how you added the PPA to your repository, you need to update the package lists.
In a terminal you can do this by taping
sudo apt-get updateNot sure how to do this withthe UI.

I added the PPA via the terminal, following the instructions, then typed sudo apt-get update, then re-installed the software, and it's still coming up with 0.9.7 unstable pre-release, and still closing down as soon as I try to put a note in

Are the stable and the unstable ppa subscribed?
If it is so you should see both 9.6.2 and 9.7 as available musescore packages (I mean when you use the install gui Synaptic)

I can only see 9.7 - I think I've searched correctly using Synaptic Package Manager, but as I say, I'm relatively new to Ubuntu

That's great! After a bit of googling, I installed Ubuntu Tweak and managed to remove the 0.9.7 package. Then uninstalled the programme, and re-did through Ubuntu Software Centre, and now have the stable version which so far has let me input notes
