Custom Page Numbers
Hi!
My feature request is for editable page numbers. Let's say that you are creating a collection of pieces to be printed. Obviously each piece can't start with page 1. Thus, having the ability to have custom page numbers would be necessary.
I think that it could be quite easy to implement? Perhaps even there could be support for where (left/right/centred/top/bottom) the page number is placed on the page?
Thanks so much!
Etienne

You should be able to change the alignment of page number for odd and even page in Style -> Edit text style->Odd page numbers. Unfortunatly, text styles looks broken. See : #6770: Changing text style does not update existing text

In the next major release, you'll be able to display automatically the number of pages and customize how the page number are displayed. Not sure for the start point though.
Thanks. It's a feature I've wanted for a long time. I often create pieces, and then I want to print them together to be bound together in some form of book or file. This would be a great addition.
The possibility to start page numbering from any (positive) number rather than only 1 is already implemented in 0.9.7.

I'm not sure that "already implemented" is the right term for a feature of a not-yet-released version. I figured that there was perhaps a pre-release of 0.9.7, but didn't find it in the Download area of the site -- only 0.9.6.2 (which, of course, has already been in official release for a bit).
I'd love to have a look-see at 0.9.7, but I'd be way more comfortable with something designated as a Pre-Release than as a Nightly Build. Any idea when it's coming down the pipe?

Werner is still refactoring a lot so the software in the trunk is not ready to be pre-released, mainly because the format is still changing and there is no upgrade path yet. It will take at least another month before we can consider issuing a prerelease. Until that time, it's not recommended to even use the trunk for any work.

It's better we don't use release numbers which are not 'released' yet. That confuses people. Instead, let's call it the trunk/head/svn or simply say: it will be available in the next release.
So, I reword my previous posting:
Custom start page numbering is implemented in current SVN trunk revision (3410) and it is there since about a month. It is reasonably safe to assume it will available in the next version.
Better?

For some hints about how to use the text style data for page numbers, copyright (and other page elements), you may look at this post and at this post .
It is important to note that the result of these changes will not show immediately but only after saving, closing and reloading the score.
