Inserting picture in vertical frame
I want to insert a picture in a (vertical)frame. Although the handbook says that a frame can, apart from
text, also contain pictures I somehow cannot manage to do that.
Can somebody help me please?

You can insert a image everywhere by drag and dropping it from the explorer or the finder to the sheet music (anywhere).
Using a frame you can make some room for the image.

Thanks lasconic. I did not use explorer to do that but now I can place a picture in the
frame (I placed the vertical frame at the bottom of the score). But for some reason I
cannot put text in it. Am I overlooking something?

get the contextual menu of the frame (it should be blue to get it) There is a menu "Add"

Right-click on the box, making sure it turns blue, and you will see a menu thingy. If the top says VBox in gray, you have the correct thing. Add is one of the choices, with choices within that as well for text.

You can read Frame and Image
If you just drag a picture file in the musescore window, here it opens, and you can change the size.
Pay attention not to use a too heavy picture, let say that 1000 pixel is a good dimension, or you are not able to grasp the sides to change the size.
