Mac Soundfont problems
A friend uses MuseScore on his Mac OSX, so I installed it on my Windows XP and Vista Machines. I have installed extra soundfonts and use them without problems. My friend has had problems:
a) When he tried to install a new soundfont the relevant folder was greyed out - the Mac would not save it there. He installed the soundfont successfully on the desktop instead.
b) Via the Synthesiser drop-down he was able to switch from the MuseScore default soundfont to the one installed on the desktop. Then he hit another problem: he could not switch back to the default soundfont. The 'sound' folder was greyed out.
c) On the forum I found the "reset to Factory settings" instructions, and this regained access to the default soundfont. But only on a per-session basis. If MuseScore is closed the situation reverts to that in (2) above. And of course all customised settings are lost.
Questions:
1. The failed installation followed the handbook guidance. What would have caused the failure, and how do we get round it?
2. How do you make the factory reset permanent?
Comments
a) you can put the soundfont in any directory.
b)You can download the default soundfont from the Soundfont handbook page and put it where you want.
c) To restore your settings forever, you can delete the MuseScore.ini file. See Revert to factory settings .
In reply to a) you can put the soundfont by [DELETED] 5
Thanks for this; will give it a try ASAP.
