Filipino Rondalla Instruments

• May 18, 2015 - 05:01

Hi! I wanted to write music for Filipino Rondalla until I found that the instruments are not included in musescore (except for the guitar and double bass). Or it might also be the case that the instruments are included but are called with a different name, of which case I would like to know what their alternative names are.
Rondalla is an ensemble of plucked strings and is a staple in Kundiman (a music genre in the Philippines with strong Spanish influence) and other folk music. The Rondalla ensemble forms an important part of the Spanish-Philippine music tradition.

From Edit/Instrument select 'All instrument' (choose the most similar);
In mixer choose the most similar instrument (for playback);
Right-click on the staff: select 'Stave properties...'. Change the Long instrument name.

I play the lute (laúd) in a Spanish rondalla.
I wanted to write sheets with Bandurria as instrument and I decided to add this instrument myself because nobody has done it so far.
I realised that lute already in the list of instruments of MuseScore hasn't the same pitch in all strings than the spanish lute, so I added another instrument called laud.
I have created the group of instruments "Rondalla instruments", where Bandurria, Laud and their tablatures are added. (I think tablatures are correct, but I don't use this notation so sorry if they are wrong).

I attach the file instruments.xml where the instruments are defined.

By the way, I don't know the octavina instrument, but if it is a string and frated instrument I would only need the note of each string and the number of frats in order to add this instrument too.
Or you can see the definition of Bandurria and Laud in order to include the octavina yourself.

Hi! I was wondering if you have (or if not, create an updated version) a version that's compatible with MuseScore4? I have recently tried transcribing pieces/song sheets from Philippine folk dances and what I have used so far is only the Classical guitar and Acoustic Guitar. I wonder if having a Rondalla ensemble for the present version would be viable?
