Crash when part extracting
Hi,
Using v1.1 : Kubuntu: 64bit.
I get the new part tab appearing in the main window but if I click it musescore crashes
I get the following console output using command line musescore -d, which suggests a bug. Please advise.
Best wishes,
Howard Gilbert

The program 'mscore.real' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
(Details: serial 6144 error_code 3 request_code 20 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Can you share the file? Or a smaller file with the same problem?

Hi lasconic,
I am trying Musescore for the first time so I was experimenting with files downloaded from the web-site. I tried 2 ( both gave the same problem) Peer_Gynt_-_In_the_Hall_of_the_Mountain_King.mscz and Rondo_Alla_Turca_brass_quintet.mscz.
I found, subsequently, I can make parts via File>new then copy and paste but NOT by the File>parts mechanism.
I am experiencing many crashes of Musescore.
Am I likely to do better getting a nightly build version?
Best wishes,
Howard

MuseScore nightly will give you a lot more crashes than MuseScore 1.1. MuseScore 1.1 is relatively stable and should not crash.
I assume you were talking about : http://musescore.com/pcarmich/scores/14346 and http://musescore.com/user/3363/scores/3645 ?
I tried to create the parts for these 2 files and I don't have crashes.

Yes those were the files I used.
What is your OS?
Making parts via copy and paste did not give me the mid-bar repeats in Rondo a la Turca in the part. I tried inserting them following your video. Every time I do it I get a crash.

I'm running MuseScore 1.1 on Windows 32bits. Just tried on Mac OSX 10.5, no crash neither. Could be a problem with Ubuntu or 64 bits, weird.

No problem on Ubuntu 11.10 for me. But that's 32-bit.

Thanks for info Jon
It must be a 64 bit problem.
I have installed a 32bit kubuntu on a spare partition on my hard drive. Musescore works fine.
Best
Howard
