Shortcut to Textual styles

• Jun 2, 2016 - 06:06

It would be wonderful if a user could make his/her own shortcuts to the different textual styles for quick type into the score. I am not aware if it exists right now.
Example:
Select a note and:
1. Ctrl + I = create a text with predefined style and position for instrument change
2. Ctrl + E = create a text with predefined style and position for expression marks
3. Ctrl + O = create a text with predefined style and position for tempo
4. Ctrl + T = create a text with predefined style and position for technique marks
and so on.
"Ctrl + [something]" could be defined by user.

Well, tempo text is already defined as Alt + T, for what it's worth. As for "expression" and "technique" marks, those are both just staff text. If you mean specific dynamics, those can just be inserted using the dynamics palette. Instrument changes can also be done using the palette. As far as I can tell there is no shortcut for either, nor a way to add one.

Until this gets implemented you can make your own palette and put expression marks etc. in, each with its own style.
I have one called "words" (couldn't find a better name in a hurry) and it has things like espressivo, dolce, etc. in it, but also pizz. (even includes the text style property, i.e. no extra work to have playback switched to pizz.). Quite handy, maybe almost as good as this proposal is going to be.
