In the menu you choose Plugins-> Note names.
Press Ctrl + Z to undo. But if you add notes in between. It no more possible... Sorry

thanks lasconic for your respons.
in the meantime i have found the location in the .mscx file where the notename info is stored. i am now removing the note name info directly from the stored file. it is time consuming, but there is no other way, as i understand
grtz

Hi Ruud,
There are online services like dropbox which can automatically store all the versions of your score. If something went wrong, simply look up one of the old revisions of the score and get back to work.
Dropbox is free up to 2 GB.

You can also select the text in MuseScore and delete it. I imagine that would be quicker than editing the file in a text editor.

I did try that, David. and although I could select the notename and drag it away from the note, hitting DEL did not delete the notename. Perhaps it is some other key I have to use, but I cannot find it mentioned in the docs.
thnx

There is a Delete key and a Backspace key. Make sure you are actually using the delete key.
