Feature Request: naming of note (and note ranges)
I hope you'll consider the following two feature requests:
1) The ability to click on a note and have the name of the note (C3 or whatever) and it's frequency and MIDI note number appear in the status bar. Predominately I would use this when transcribing in a Clef I don't normally read and/or when the note is way off the top/bottom of the stave. Obviously it's a great learning tool as well.
2) The ability to select a range of notes on a stave and have the status bar display the note range (lowest and highest) in the selected bars. This would be incredibly useful when transposing a piece to adapt it for a different instrument. For example, I'm adapting the piano part in the flower duet (Lakme) for mandolin family instruments, and for sure I can change the instrument name and see which notes change color, but that doesn't tell me by how much I need to transpose in order to get everything in range of the target instrument. Nor does it help me find where the lowest and highest notes actually are in the score. Once I have that information, I can start thinking about what key would best suite the piece on the chosen instruments.
Many thanks, and apologies if this has been discussed before!

For the naming of notes you could use the notenames plugin

That nearly gets it - though it doesn't give the octave, and it fails to name grace notes.
Thanks, John.

It could easily get extended to show the octave too, I think. Not too sure about the grace notes.

download the latest version of the notenames plugin from the plugin repository, edit the script file to remove the comment signs from the line that adds the octave and see whether that is what you need.
It seems that grace notes are not accessible to the plugin Framework.
Reg. grace notes see also http://musescore.org/en/node/22812

As of today in f3e7de1e grace notes are accessible to the plugin Framework.
I'm working on getting this used in the plugin.
