Selecting just one whole bar
Hello there,
I'm not sure if this is a bug, but it seems impossible to consistently select a single bar using shortcuts. When the bar contains a single note (i.e. a semibreve in a bar of 4/4), using the shortcut Cmd+Shift+RightArrow also selects the first note of the next bar. This doesn't happen if there is more than one note in the bar you are trying to highlight/select.
Is there a fix for this?

Thanks for the quick Shoichi - it's true that this works. However I need to automate the process of selecting single bars of a score one by one, and then saving as selection to a new file. Using a keyboard shortcut would make it easy to automate on mac with Automator for example.
But interested to know if there are any other solutions for 'chopping' a score into individual bars?

Yeah not quite the solution ;)
What's with shift+arrow up/down in your case to get the expected behavior? Or after cmd+shift+arrow right shift+arrow left again?
Maybe of inconsistency you're right.
Can you explain your use case in more detail? What exactly are you doing with these selected measures? Could be there is an easier way to achieve the actual goal.
But as for a reliably repeatable way of always getting exactly one measure selected, I think Ctrl+Shift+right twice, then Ctrl+Shift+left once should work.

Hi Marc - I wasn't able to upload a video, so have tried converting a screen record into an animated Gif.
As you can see, this method and others work until you get to a bar with a semibreve - at which point it also selects the first note from the following bar.
Ultimately what I need to do is save each bar as a separate midi file. At the moment, I can select a bar, save selection, open that new file, then export as MIDI. I'm looking for a quicker way to do this, automating with keystrokes would be one solution but open to others!

I see what you mean, works fine for the bar with the whole note, but not if the next bar has a whole note. So the click method may in fact end up being more efficient. But again, I'd still like to understand more about what you are actually trying to do here - what your score represents, where it comes from, what you plan to do with the MIDI files you end up with, etc. Because as I said, chances are good that if we step back and look at the big picture, we might find a solution that is far simpler than laboriously selecting individual measures for export in the first place.

Hi Marc - it's for a project where I need to take classical pieces of music, and then chop the music into bar sized chunks which can be fed into a sampler. This can of course also be done 'manually' in a DAW, however I'm looking for a faster method.
