How to stop the automatic movement (left right) when working (copy/paste) in a partiture

• Jul 27, 2020 - 16:39

Hi
I am writing a piece for brassband but everytime when I copy a few bars from one instrument to another the partiture is automatically 're-aligning' or... moving left to right. It is hard to keep focus where I was working and have to (horizontally) scroll with the mouse to again align the partiture exactly where I want it to be.

Is there a switch I could toggle to disable this auto alignment feature?

All the best and stay healthy!

What version of MuseScore, and are you in Page or Continuous view? What should be happening is the score positions itself to make sure what you pasted is actually visible. If you prefer that not to happen - if you prefer to continue to see the original location, not the pasted location - you can turn off the "Pan Score Automatically" button on the toolbar. Or, if you feel that it is not positioning appropriately - the area you pasted is not in fact visible when you want it to be - please also attach your score and describe in more detail how to reproduce the problem.

Hi Marc and thank you for your quick reply. I am running
OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64,
MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.4.2.9788,
revision: 148e43f

Great how your questions made me learn about the Page and Continous view difference and... perhaps more important the automatic pan function. Never noticed these before in the toolbar. (I know... RTFM)
But I was in page view. I will try to see how continuous will work and try page view without that button toggled on.
Your reply is highly appreciated! Have a good one!
