Installing on a Lenovo Chromebook
Attempting to install, get the following. Help please! Had previously installed suggested libraries...

Did you follow the instructions: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/install-chromebook ?
That error looks to me like something went wrong with the download, I'd delete it and try again. Hmm, that, or your device isn't 64-bit, and you'd need a 32-bit version.

Many thanks Marc - you are dead right - not a 64 bit machine - silly me (although I had already worked it out and found that none of the distros work with this machine)

Great! So are you having better luck with the 32-bit? If it's ARM, though, you might be out of luck.
BTW, I created an experimental Chromebook installer and wrote up some documentation a couple of days ago that you might find interesting if you can find an appropriate build of MuseScore:
