Audio issues after 3.5.2 update

• Oct 27, 2020 - 23:54

After I installed the 3.5.2 update I'm having playback issues. When I play a score I'm working on, it tries to play the notes, but the pitches come out as static, and as a result the tempo is significantly reduced, and the score is unbearable to listen to. I even opened another score to see if the problem persisted, and it did on the other score as well. I'm not sure how I can demonstrate it because I'm fairly confident this is an issue on my end, so I don't think uploading a score would give much information. I try to go into preferences > I/O > reset audio drivers, and this works, but messes up the drivers on other apps like google chrome, and I'm forced to restart my computer if I want to simply watch a Youtube video. If I go into the synthesizer the audio levels don't peak either, so I don't know how to fix this.

In case you're curious, I'm on a Windows 10 OS.

I don't think this matters because it was working before the update, but my specs are:
CPU: i7-2600
GPU: GTX 970
8 GB RAM

Ok so it's about 2 weeks after that issue is resolved, then it inexplicably happened again. This time, I don't even have the MDL extension installed and the static returned, ruining the playback. Now I don't know what to do to fix it, and I need to use the program for school work. What steps would you advise? I've tried resetting to factory settings, resetting audio drivers (which for some reason wouldn't let me do), reinstalling and uninstalling the MDL extension to no avail.

I unticked those for my headphones but that didn't work. I tried some other things on that page, like the volume mixer and "go to Start→Services, find Windows Audio Endpoint Builder→ hit Restart". I restarted my computer and the program, but the static is still happening.
