What are you specifically looking to do? If you want to turn the metronome on or off, there is a metronome icon in the toolbar you can click. If you want to adjust the volume, you can open the Play panel (keyboard shortcut is F11 by default) and adjust the volume there. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/play-mode

I should have been more clear, it is to change the speed of the rhythm, from say 160 beats per quarter note to 60 beats, implying one beat per second. You can set this when you create the file but I don't see how to change it after that.

To modify the tempo so that you can save the change with the score: add or edit a tempo text or override the tempo text in the inspector. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/tempo
For a temporary tempo change use the tempo slider in the play panel . See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/play-mode#play-panel
Got it, didn't realize editing the text changed the file,
Thanks
