Add Guitar Pro file (.gp) compatability

• Jun 6, 2021 - 03:56

I've seen people on up guitar pro files on musescore before but it doesn't work for me and I want to be able to open up my guitar pro files.

It must work, it's already entended for. What exactly do you mean: your or a single (?) .gp file does not open? Or the result of the import is not really the expected one?
Please provide more details and, of course, attach one (or two) .gp files that would not open with MuseScore. In this case, it would possibly be corrupted in some way, and only the ability to test the .gp file will tell.

"I found how to open it correctly"

Ok, but how do you tried to open it before?

"change the Drumkit from a piano to an actual drum kit?"

For some reason, when exporting to .gpx (GP6) format, the drumkit is correctly played when opening it with 3.6.2.
With the .gp (GP7) format, you hear a piano, indeed. This is unexpected and I don't remember if it has been reported before. To be checked.
Nevertheless, you can right-click on the concerned staff -> Staff/Part properties -> "Change Instrument" -> Percusion -Unpitched: Drumset -> Ok/Ok
See: 1Prog Death Song.mscz
(for information, sometimes, exporting your .gp file to .gpx format, then importing with MuseScore, works a bit better, it shouldn't, but it can be useful to know)
