Manipulating pieces in different time signatures

It is relatively easy to manipulate pieces or fragments of pieces in different time signatures if they are related by powers of two in Musescore.

Thus a piece in 4/4 can be modified to produce a piece in 2/4 or vice versa - using copy and paste and the doubling or halving of the pasted result.

This also works for 3/4 to 6/8 and some other time signatures.

Of course sometimes one bar may become two, or vice versa - but the overall principle is useful.

It is possible to manually convert pieces written in 12/8 to 4/4 by replacing dotted crotchets (quarter notes) with crotchets (quarter notes) and groups of three quavers by triplets. Effectively the note lengths are scaled by 2/3, and then placed in the notation using a different time signature. There might also be a corresonding need for a tempo adjustment.

Is there any way that this can be done automatically in Musescore? It's perhaps not a big deal, but could be helpful sometimes.

There's not really a general solution for ratios that require conversion to/from triplets currently, but it's definitely something on the list of potential enhancements to add someday.

Thanks for letting me know. It's not that easy, but if it were done it might help some people. I would have found it useful recently - indeed I would still find it useful, though I can do the conversions needed with a bit of mental effort and a few tricks.

It would be great if it could be done - but I do understand the particular difficulties of this kind of operation for time signatures which are inconveniently not so directly related, so I wouldn't expect this to be available soon - unless someone finds a quick and easy way to do it.
