Unhide empty stave one system before the instrument is used?

• Jul 25, 2021 - 00:56

Hello everyone!

I'm currently working on a choral score (SATB with soprano soloist), and I have the option "Hide empty staves within systems" enabled. My Musescore version is 3.6.2.548021803.

The soprano solo only comes in near the end of the peace (bar 46), and coincidentally in the first measure of a new page (see 1_end_of_page_7.png and 2_beginning_of_page_8.png). Is there a way to unhide a whole empty stave in the previous system (bars 41-45)? If not, is there a way I can simply add an empty stave to the mentioned bar interval?

The goal here is to have a whole empty staff before the system in which the instrument begins to play, so that the staff does not appear "without notice". I know I can change the way the bars are arranged, but before I do it, I would like to know if there is another way to do this. I've searched quite a bit but found no similar question.

Thanks in advance!

You can attach some staff text (e.g., "Soprano enters on next page") as an instruction so that the staff remains visible.
-OR-
You can enter a note in the staff and make silent and invisible.

Thanks! The first option is not as elegant as the second. I've come up with a solution for now, which is to add text to a bar - in this case a single dot - and put it over a rest. If I change the bars it will also change its position, but it will work when I have the final layout.

How can I make a note "silent and invisible"?
