Instrumentation before/after section break
Is there any way to remove or hide instruments after a section break without affecting them prior to the section break?
The use case here is solo changes at the end of an arranged head. I'd really prefer not to have to make two separate scores, since I'm emailing this to people and my PDF software won't allow me to combine them if I export PDFs separately from different scores. (Not to mention that it would make revision & file management more cumbersome.)

It's not toally clear what you mean here - what's the purpose of the section break? Normally that would be to separate entirely different songs, not just solos from the head. I'd recommend a plain system break for that, otherwise your measure numbering, playback, and other aspects won't be correct or would require fiddling to fake.
Anyhow, assuming you simply want staves that are not used during the solos to disappear, just enable Format / Style / Score / Hide empty staves.

Oh, you're quite right, I hadn't noticed the reset in measure numbers.
The problem is that I don't want empty staves to disappear for the head of the tune, only for the solo changes.
Since I'm attaching the file, do you have any explanation for why the Alto part moves to C minor instead of F minor when "Concert Pitch" is toggled on? It's not crucial, since I'll be using the transposed score, but does seem odd.

You can add transparent or white text to some of the otherwise empty measures to prevent them from being hidden in systems where you don't want that. Someday hopefully MuseScore will provide a more elegant way of marking some measures to not be hidden.
BTW, not sure why your PDF software would have any reaosn to care that the files came from different wocres; noi PDF software I've ever used would have any way otf knowing or any reaosn to care. So you might also consider different PDF software. Assembling PDF's from different scores with potentially differenty instrumentation is something I do all the time with a variety of different tools, and none of them have ever given me trouble.
Your alto has the wrong key signature in both modes, not sure how you added it but it seems you might have treid overriding the default using Ctrl? It should be one flat with concert pitch off. Best to fix it by simply re-adding the four-flats key signature, then it's correct in both mdoes instead of wrong in both.

It's just a "pro" feature on the couple of PDF reader/editors I have installed. I did look for ones in the past with less-limited functionality, but maybe the landscape has changes and worth looking again.
Thanks, that's a very good point, I had assumed it was a display bug but wasn't paying close enough attention. I added the alto instrument after the rest of the score was already set up & in F minor, so I'm not sure why it didn't default to the correct key. I certainly didn't change anything about the key signature once it was added.

For combining PDF's, I normally either use the tools that came with my Linux distribution, or else PDFsam. All are free, no "pro" features required.
