Centering Text over Measure or Rest
Is there a way to center text over a measure or rest? Specifically, I'm trying to put "G.P." as system text above a full bar rest, but none of the options for text placement actually center it over the rest. I can move it manually, but it moves as the page layout updates.
I'm using MS 4 Beta, but this was an issue in 3.6 as well.

A workaround is to create suitable rests in an invisible voice. Then place the "G.P." text above the rest in the middle of the measure. The placement will survive layout changes quite robustly (though not perfectly).
Another hack solution is to add a repeat marking like Fine then set the alignment to center. You have to be careful when doing this to not confuse the playback.

Best to change the "label" for that marker to something non-standard.

I haven't thought through all the options or tested enough to know what would be the safest choice. Is simply changing the label to something nonsensical safe to guarantee it will never be interested as a stop, because it was never listed as the target or a DS or DC?

Yes. Just adding a letter in front of the label will do.
