Drumline Sounds in MS4
Hey all. I wasn't entirely sure where this question should go, but I figured "General" was a safe bet.
I just downloaded MuseScore 4.0 today. I'm enjoying the new sounds but was disappointed that MDL sounds did not carry across in my scores from MuseScore 3 (the extension is not supported in MS4). I read here [https://musescore.org/en/node/334701] that the plan is to add new drumline sounds in a "post MuseScore 4.0 release." I'm wondering if anyone from the MuseScore team knows a rough timeline for this. (I use marching percussion in most of my scores, so hopefully not too long.)
I did find this helpful workaround from user Lukease: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccV8kR8hKzU. I may opt to do that, but if new sounds are right around the corner, I won't bother teaching myself how all that stuff works (I don't care how it works, only that it does!).
Many thanks!

There is no more specific information available regarding the MDL timeline.
In the meantime using Sforzando is a decent workaround and the setup of it all isn't that complicated. The video you linked nicely demonstrates the full setup process.
Yeah, I second this. Sad that there isn't enough priority given to MDL. Definitely some of the best drumline sounds in the game and beats buying and expensive VDL. I get that they added VDL support for that reason, but it just sucks that we have to wait an indeterminate amount of time with a workaround is....fine, but not practical.
Hope to see changes within a reasonable amount of time 🙏 I'm writing for my school soon.

well you can add it via VST on Kontakt and add it to the mixer
well, it's a good news for you, you don't have to use MDL anymore. Just like @Luke_Zuniga 's said, Tapspace VDL is the best choice for drumline sound until this day that recorded from very best drumline indeed, The SCV's drumline (I'm very sorry to hear that they can't compete on 2023 DCI cummer events). Their samples is ONLY available on Kontakt and can be used as vst on various music scoring app but musescore. But, it was! Now, Musescore 4 is supporting a vst now!, not only an ordinary vst but a VST3 too!If you familiar with VST, you can add the vst on the mixer. very happy to hear so much change on musescore!

funny that you say all this like VDL isnt 200 dollars. you and Tapspace both seem to forget hobbyists who cant shill out loads of money exist.
